A Father's Dream, A Child's Future

With VIHAAN’s support, six-year-old Anaya has begun school and found hope for the future after surviving a traumatic abduction.

Six-year-old Anaya* lives with her parents and younger brother in a small rented room in Delhi. Her father works long hours as a driver, supporting not only his young family but also his elderly parents back in their native village. Life was already a daily struggle, but in June 2024 their world was shaken by an unthinkable tragedy.

While playing outside with her cousins, Anaya was abducted by a stranger and subjected to abuse. Thanks to quick action by her family and the police, she was rescued the same day. Yet the trauma of that moment left deep scars for both Anaya and her parents.

The case was referred to VIHAAN by the CWC, and our team stepped in as support persons for the family - offering immediate care, legal intervention, and ongoing assistance. Alongside counselling and emotional support, we worked with Anaya’s parents to focus on her future. Her father dreamed of giving her a safe and empowering environment through education, but the family faced many barriers. Without the right documents, Anaya could not get admission to school.

VIHAAN’s social worker helped the family secure the necessary paperwork, open a bank account, and enroll Anaya in Swati Modern Public School, a reputed public school in Delhi. We covered the cost of admission, fees, and school supplies, ensuring she could start her education without delay.

Despite her young age, Anaya has already shown incredible courage. She has testified before the Court with confidence, standing strong against the person who harmed her.

Today, Anaya is back in school, learning and growing, surrounded by the love of her family and the support of her community. For her father, this is the beginning of a dream realised, with the chance for his daughter to build a brighter future filled with hope, healing, and opportunity.
