We implement a holistic, versatile and collaborative methodology to tackle the crime of human trafficking by bringing together multiple disciplines and professional specialisations in the work we do. When we started, we realised that human trafficking lay at the intersection of many discourses and disciplines such as migration, human rights, labour laws, poverty and human development as well as trans-border rules and regulations. At an execution level too, any effective intervention required a multidisciplinary approach encompassing rescue, legal support, comprehensive victim care, protection, reintegration as well as an efficient case management system. This multidisciplinary approach is at the heart of all we do.
Continued support to the individual leading to self-sustainability and independence
Building trafficking resilient communities and significantly reducing the prevalence of the crime through district level interventions
Partnering with Governments, institutions of the criminal justice system, civil society organisations, businesses and vulnerable communities to develop lasting solutions
Integrated protection programme involving shelter homes, local communities and partner organisations
Assist the state to disrupt criminal networks
The institutional establishment of the law, processes and protocols at a governmental, ministry or agency level, leading to replicable improvement in grassroots casework
Our approach of end-to-end casework focuses on individuals, families and communities vulnerable to or affected by the crime of trafficking. This aspect of our intervention sets us apart. It encompasses prevention, rescue, prosecution, rehabilitation as well as reintegration and protection. Casework is critical to help build knowledge from action on the ground.
We use our knowledge from grassroot experiences to influence legislation and policies at state and national levels and bring about systemic change so that casework successes can be improved upon and replicated.
We assess both internal and external data to build scientific evidence to understand the situation of trafficking and existing gaps and good practices within the system.
We believe in the immense power of partnerships and collaborate with a network of stakeholders operating at different levels to generate awareness, build capacity and achieve lasting solutions.
There is no easy or one dimensional solution to combat human trafficking since it is influenced by a complex set of factors often working in combination with one another. The crime of trafficking in persons remains all too hidden, despite affecting virtually every country in the world.
We believe that to tackle human trafficking, the crime needs to be understood as an issue in its own right, and therefore, strategies that are specific to the issue need to be developed and implemented.
